Microneedling — Ankara

Stimulating the skin in a controlled way with very fine needles so that it triggers its own repair process. It does not give a result in one session; it is given as a series and the effect appears gradually.

How it works

Very fine needles at the tip of the device create microscopic channels in the skin. This controlled stimulation triggers the body's own repair mechanism and increases collagen production. The result is a gradual improvement in skin texture.

The effect does not appear after a single session. A course of three to six sessions, usually four to six weeks apart, is planned, and the result becomes clearer as the sessions progress.

What it is used for

  • Acne scars and surface irregularity
  • Prominent pores
  • Fine lines and dullness of skin texture
  • Uneven skin tone

Who it does not suit

  • Active acne, herpes or skin infection at the treatment site
  • A tendency to keloid and hypertrophic scarring
  • Recent isotretinoin use
  • Uncontrolled diabetes and conditions impairing wound healing
  • Pregnancy

Aftercare

After treatment the skin shows redness similar to sunburn, usually settling within one to three days. The skin barrier is temporarily weakened during this period.

You are asked not to wear make-up for the first days and to avoid hot showers and saunas. Sunscreen during this period is not optional but part of the treatment: unprotected skin can respond with pigmentation.

Retinol and acid-containing products are paused; when to restart is decided at review.

Recovery

  1. First 24 hours Marked redness and a sensation of heat. Use nothing beyond a moisturiser.
  2. Days 2 to 3 Redness settles, with possible light flaking. Make-up is usually permitted after this point.
  3. Weeks 1 to 2 Refreshment of the skin surface becomes noticeable.
  4. Weeks 4 to 6 Next session. The collagen response accumulates at these intervals.
  5. Month 3 after the course The result is assessed and maintenance sessions planned if needed.

These are average times; recovery varies from person to person.

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?

Topical anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand. Most patients describe vibration and warmth at the surface.

How many sessions are needed?

It depends on the complaint; typically three to six sessions four to six weeks apart. Acne scarring may need more.

Can it be done in summer?

Yes, provided sun protection is followed strictly. If heavy sun exposure is planned, postponing the session is safer.

Will it remove my acne scars completely?

Complete resolution should not be expected for deep, pitted scars. The aim is to reduce their depth and the surface irregularity. Some scar types need to be combined with other methods.
