International Patients
Practical notes for patients travelling from abroad. The short version: plan the trip around the follow-up, not only around the operation.
Before you travel
A preliminary discussion using photographs is possible and helps outline what is realistic. It does not replace an examination: a plan made without endoscopic assessment of the septum, turbinates and nasal valve is incomplete.
Send photographs from the front, in profile from both sides, and at three-quarter view, in even light and without a smile. If you have had previous nose surgery, the operative note is more valuable than any photograph.
How long to stay
The usual pattern is a few days before surgery for examination and pre-operative tests, and roughly a week afterwards for the first review and splint removal. Total time depends on what is planned.
Flying too soon after surgery is not advisable; the timing is confirmed at your review. Please do not book a return flight before this has been discussed.
What this clinic does not do
There are no package deals, no fixed prices published in advance and no arrangements made through agencies. What a nose needs is decided after examination, and the plan follows from that.
If you are told before an examination exactly what your operation will be and what it will cost, that assessment has not been made.
Follow-up after you go home
The first review takes place before you leave. Later reviews are planned around your travel dates, and where a local ENT surgeon is available, shared follow-up is straightforward.
The nose usually takes about a year to settle. Photographs at three months, six months and one year are useful for remote review.
From first contact to the one-year review
First contact
An appointment by phone or WhatsApp. If you are travelling from another city or from abroad, a preliminary discussion can be held using photographs, though it does not replace an examination.
Examination and endoscopic assessment
External examination, endoscopic assessment inside the nose and imaging where needed. Whether your expectation fits your anatomy is discussed at this consultation.
Surgical planning
What will be done to which structure, why that technique was chosen, and the realistic range of outcomes. Pre-operative tests are requested.
Day of surgery
The operation is usually performed under general anaesthesia. Duration depends on what is planned. Length of stay and whether splints will be used are confirmed beforehand.
Follow-up
Reviews at day one, week one, month three and year one. Healing varies from person to person; the nose usually takes about a year to settle.
Frequently asked questions
Which languages are consultations held in?
Turkish and English.
Do you work with agencies?
No. Contact is direct with the clinic.
Can you tell me the price before I travel?
Not before an examination. What each nose needs differs, and a figure given without assessment would be meaningless.
How do I get to Ankara?
Ankara Esenboğa Airport connects to major hubs, with domestic flights and a high-speed rail link from Istanbul. The clinic is in Ümitköy, on the western side of the city.
